I know I usually keep my dementia posts to my But Alzheimers Is For Old People page but I felt I would share this here too.

On paper care home residents are allowed family visits in the garden which is great but alot needs to be in place before this can even happen so it’s not as easy as it seems.

Garden visits are also great but let’s remember some people who live in care homes very rarely go outside, what a shock to the system this will be for them aswell as seeing family after so long.

All we are asking for is ONE nominayed family member per resident to be allowed into the care home to visit - whilst staying safe with PPE etc.

Why is this so frowned upon but we can have agency staff come and go? I know agency staff serve a purpose and this is nothing on them it just seems so unjust that a resident can’t have ONE family member allowed to visit them in the warmth of their own room.

Not to mention we are worried they will start to forget us and decline in health....

We have to recognise way of life in a care home differs from living in the community so we need to adapt to allow the residents to still feel a part of society.
