Allow a communal pool in Font Hills estate for local kids

Allow a communal pool in Font Hills estate for local kids
The Issue
My youngest son, alongside my two other children with special educational needs (SEN), is unable to enjoy outdoor activities like most kids due to his severe autism. Our living situation, confined to a crowded two-bedroom home, limits his ability to experience the joys of summer. The only refuge we have is the communal garden/play area, which, with the right amenities, could provide a much-needed escape for him and other local children in the Font Hills estate.
With the current cost of living crisis, many families in our area cannot afford the luxury of day trips or even small recreational outings. This summer, a communal pool in our garden area could bring immeasurable joy and relief not just to my son but to all the kids in our estate. Such a pool would offer them a safe, accessible space to play, keep cool, and build cherished childhood memories right in their backyard.
Our neighbors are in strong support of this initiative, expressing willingness to take collective responsibility in maintaining the pool's safety and upkeep. This collaborative effort reflects our community's spirit and our shared hope to enrich the children's lives during the summer months.
Statistics show the profound benefits of communal resources in enhancing mental health and providing stress relief, especially for families bound by economic constraints. Introducing a pool within our communal area would serve as a beacon of community care and solidarity, fostering a nurturing environment for our children.
We urge the estate management and local council to consider our request seriously, seeing the communal pool not only as a means of leisure but as an essential resource during these challenging times. Please sign this petition to support a brighter, happier summer for the Font Hills children.
