Allocate Immediate Emergency Funding for Hurricane Milton Damage Mitigation

The Issue

My family's neighborhood is working to secure emergency funding to address the flooding issues around the Round Lake/Wolfbranch area. Unfortunately, new home developments on Round Lake Rd have changed the natural flow of water, causing flooding in neighborhoods that have been here for 30+ years.

We would really appreciate it if you could sign the petition to support this effort! There is a meeting today about the funding, and we’re trying to gather as many signatures as possible. You don’t need to donate any money—just sign the petition to help get the infrastructure fixed.

Many homes were flooded due to inadequate stormwater drainage, and since most aren’t in a flood zone, many homeowners don’t have flood insurance. If the issue isn’t addressed, the flooding will continue with every rainstorm.

Our community, located in the epicenter of the damage caused by Hurricane Milton, is drowning. The extreme flooding following this disaster has turned our streets into rivers, leaving many of us without viable homes. We urgently plead for immediate emergency funding assistance from our local government. This aid is not merely beneficial but absolutely essential for the implementation of effective water retention solutions, which can help counteract the ongoing damage. Reports suggest that such solutions can decrease flood damage by up to 40% (National Resources Defense Council). We understand our local government is responsible for the safety and well-being of its residents. Now is the time to step up and take tangible action against this crisis. We urge you, our representatives, to direct necessary resources towards the damaged areas without delay. Please acknowledge our plea for survival and preservation. Sign this petition to show your support for immediate government-funded relief for the victims of Hurricane Milton.
