Racism, especially portrayed in youth sports, needs to end.

Year after year, Alliance City School District athletes have been faced with racism and racist comments from Louisville City School District athletes, and fans. It would be in the best interest for Alliance City School District to no longer sign any athletic contract agreeing to play Louisville CSD.

Such an extreme conclusion would not be necessary if Louisville CSD Administration would hold accountability to any racist remark or action, and not excuse it as a “joke” or “prank”. Racism is far from a joke or prank. If coaches, parents, and peers are not considerate enough to stand up for what is right, our athletes should not be obligated to be exposed to such hateful language.

The Alliance Aviators have always been successful athletes, regardless of success our students need to be treated with respect and not endure psychological damage from ignorance, prejudice, and racism. Our community is fortunate enough to be diverse, facing such blatant racism is 2021 should absolutely not be tolerated. Our youth should not be exposed and hurt from a community that does not accept diversity, children and teenagers should be inspired by sports.. not discouraged because they know they will face incredible ignorance from rival athletes who will face no accountability or repercussion.

With this petition I am hoping that Alliance City School district will make the decision to no longer compete against Louisville. There have been years of tough competition, but the pride of winning will never outweigh the disgrace of racism.
