The Issue

How many more teenagers have to die before the Allentown Police Department finally treats this crisis like an emergency?

In less than a month, three teenagers in Allentown have lost their lives. Two of those deaths were caused by gun violence. These were not just statistics. They were real people with families, friends, goals, and futures that were taken away far too soon. As a community, we are tired of watching our city lose young people while the problems affecting teenagers continue to grow. Drug use, gang activity, violent crime, and youth violence have become serious issues throughout our community. Many teenagers are being pulled into dangerous situations, and instead of seeing meaningful change, we continue to see the same problems getting worse. The Allentown Police Department has a responsibility to protect this community, yet many residents are abandoned and unheard. After every tragedy, there are statements and promises, but where is the action? Where are the solutions? Where are the efforts to stop these problems before another teenager ends up dead? Too many young people openly use drugs. Too many gangs continue to recruit and influence teenagers. Too many crimes involving youth happen again and again. These issues are not secrets. They are happening in our neighborhoods, schools, parks, and streets. The community sees it. Students see it. Parents see it. Yet it feels like the people with the power to make a difference are not doing enough to confront these issues head-on. We are demanding stronger action from the Allentown Police Department and city leaders. We need more community engagement, stronger anti-gang efforts, better intervention programs for at-risk youth, increased focus on stopping illegal drugs from reaching young people, and real plans to reduce youth violence before more lives are lost. Every teenager who dies leaves behind devastated parents, grieving friends, and a community asking why this was allowed to happen. Every life lost is a reminder that the current approach is not working. We are not asking for excuses. We are asking for accountability. We are not asking for sympathy. We are asking for action. The youth of Allentown deserve better than becoming headlines, memorial posts, and candlelight vigils. We deserve to feel safe in our own city. We deserve leaders who will fight for us while we are still alive, not just mourn us after we are gone. Enough is enough.

Sign this petition and demand real action before another teenager’s life is taken.
