The Allen Hospital is located on the northern tip of Manhattan and services the local community in this area and the Bronx.  The patients are general from underserved communities as well as very large geriatric patient population - both very vulnerable patient populations.  New York Presbyterian has a plan in place to expand the spine hospital which will result in the closing of the inpatient psychiatric ward as well as threaten the geriatric services at Allen.  This is a community hospital that relies greatly on the services we provide at Allen and I truly do not believe that these proposed changes will benefit the local community.  I'm deeply concerned and hope that you all are as well.
