From Kitsap Humane Society "The bullet had done a lot of damage- lacerating his diaphragm, thoracic wall, liver, and stomach. He seemed to be recovering well from the major surgery our amazing veterinary staff performed on Monday night, and despite the severity of his injuries, we were all optimistic for his continued healing. Unfortunately on Thursday afternoon Toby started to decline drastically and went into cardiac arrest. Unfortunately on Thursday afternoon Toby started to decline drastically and went into cardiac arrest. Despite the valiant efforts of our veterinary team, including an hour of CPR, Toby passed away. His poor little body had just been too damaged. Our staff are devastated by his passing. In the short time he was with us, everyone fell in love with his sweet personality and adorable face. We did everything we could to save Toby, and are heartbroken that the abuse he suffered means he will never get to grow up and have a full life. We are thankful, though, that when Toby took his last breath he did so surrounded by unconditional love on a soft bed, and not alone in the woods, suffering. Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with us- the Police Officers who responded to his shooting, the Animal Control Officers who rushed him to us, the veterinary staff who gave him the best of care, and all of our supporters who have kept him in your thoughts this week. ❤ #heartbroken" Thank you Kitsap Humane Society for doing more than most would <3
