We, the undersigned, stand firmly in opposition to the disastrous, job-killing, anti-environmental trade deal that is the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and are deeply disappointed that your organization has been lobbying congress to vote in favor of it by the end of this year, as evidenced by this letter: https://www.wewear.org/assets/1/7/TPP_Back_to_School_Letter_House_090816.pdf

The TPP has been written in secret by large corporations, at the expense of the American people, who do not have full knowledge of what is in this agreement- which is what they're counting on to get it passed. The TPP, like its predecessors NAFTA, CAFTA, and the Permanent Normalized Trade Agreement with China (PNTR), will result in the massive outsourcing of jobs, increasingly lower wages and human rights violations of their workers, weakened or non-existent environmental regulations, and result in even more massive job losses in the US. We cannot afford for this to pass.

What's especially troubling about this agreement is that it gives corporations the license to challenge any domestic or international law that could negatively impact their "future profits" before an independent tribunal. This includes any democratically passed laws that were made to protect the environment, workers rights, and human health. This process is chillingly aggressive and anti-democratic, putting profits before people and even the entire planet. The devastation it will cause to our economy, national sovereignty, the environment, and nations and peoples abroad, especially the poor, outweigh the benefits of your short term profits.

If your company pretends to pride itself on integrity and dedication to helping your customers as well as being a sustainable, green organization, you cannot support this deal. It is the exact opposite of going green. The majority of Americans, including your customers, do not want this trade deal. We pledge to boycott your company as long as you support this, unless you rescind your support and tell congress to vote 'NO' on the TPP if it comes up for a vote instead.

For the good of our economic, physical and environmental health, and for the very future of this planet itself, we are standing up against the TPP, and ask you to do the same.
