Aren't police supposed to be our heroes?

Aren't police supposed to be our heroes?
The Issue
To all the police (not only in the US)
Serving in the police is dangerous.
One needs courage and higher than average pain threshold to do this job.
In the extreme situation we, the weak, can commit rash actions.
And losing temper in the extreme situation can be dangerous squared.
That’s why not everyone wants and can go to the front line.
We all are ants in this ant colony and all of us have own functions.
But we have privilege to choose the role we play.
We empower brave people to stop dangerous ones.
But not that the endowed with power seized that position to dominate over all other population.
If you afraid to get hurt, wounded, shot or just don't like to communicate with people—it’s OK—choose another role.
E.g. military has technical jobs for those, who want to serve their country, but don’t feel like or can't be on the frontier.
The same is in the police.
When we afraid, we don’t go there:
— into the dark basement,
— burning building, or
— to the suspicious person, we think may be dangerous.
We call you, the people of courage.
So please, if you afraid or lose your temper easily—don’t go there.
There are courageous and strong people who can handle it.
And this is why we honor you and love you.
Thank you for your service!
