No more delays - Call an Abortion Rights Referendum for Autumn 2017
The Issue
October 28th 2017 marks the fifth anniversary of the tragic death of Savita Halappanavar, a victim of Ireland's archaic 8th amendment abortion ban. Five years on, and the Dail has still refused to call a referendum on the 8th amendment. Now the Citizens Assembly has come out clearly in favour of such a referendum, and has called for the Dail to implement progressive legislation that trusts women and pregnant people to make their own decisions about their own bodies. We are demanding no more delays, no watering down of these proposals -implement the proposals of the Citizens Assembly before Savita's fitfth anniversary.
