The Half Street Market initiative is a community-led effort to transform a vacant federally-owned warehouse located at 49 L Street, SE in Washington, D.C. 

We are advocating for the creation of a public market and restaurant that will operate a workforce development and education program for D.C. residents, host community education programming, and provide a commercial kitchen incubator with access to small business formation resources for culinary entrepreneurs.

This initiative continues to gain momentum thanks to the dedication and engagement of local residents. Over the past months, the Half Street Market team has met with a number of D.C. agencies as well as community members and stakeholders to discuss to concept. In April, we received a Certificate of Incorporation from D.C. so that we can establish a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization to support the Half Street Market initiative.
