Stand with Charmaine McGuffey! Demoted Commander of Jail Services of Hamilton County

Charmaine McGuffey served as Commander of Jail Services (the "Justice Center") in Hamilton County, Ohio for the last four years. During that time she was a true friend and advocate to the social services and recovery community. She brought in new programs, and a level of transparency and accountability unseen under the previous administration. In particular, her work on heroin treatment in the jail has been heralded as long overdue, particularly given our entrenched opioid epidemic.
Despite being praised for her work by the community at large, her peers, and Sheriff Neil for taking our jail from the worst in the state, having failed dozens of state inspections, to the best... an investigation was launched. The allegations made are mostly from complaints from 2013 and 2014, and accuse her of creating a hostile work environment.
We are concerned that this investigation happened not because of any real concern about her performance, but because she was being targeted for questioning use-of-force policy occurring inside the walls of the jail.
We are sharing this petition to say "We Stand with Charmaine McGuffey"; we appreciate her invaluable contribution she made to the transformation of our county jail, and we want her to know the social services and recovery community cannot thank her enough.
We also assert the changes and innovations Charmaine started must be continued by whomever is her replacement. Lives are depending on it.
