This petition originally was just about basketball. Kyrie Irving and thousands of Brooklyn Nets fans have been very patient and respectful of the Key2NYC vaccine mandate. This mandate was put in place under the DeBlasio administration, but  Mayor Eric Adams acknowledged the unfair nature of the this mandate and relaxed the requirements effective March 7, 2022.

Now Baseball is under fire!! The season was already delayed due to contract negotiations and now this.  We respect the importance of healthy and safety protocols, however the Key2NYC Mandate is still in place for private businesses, mainly sports franchises such as the Nets, Yankees and Mets, etc 

Unvaxxed NY athletes can practice AND travel with their teams, but they can’t go into team locker rooms or play with their teammates or they risk getting fined. Unvaxxed visiting players are allowed to play in NY arenas and stadiums.

NY athletes should be given waivers to allow them to play their respective sport; just like visiting players.
