Proposing senior and aged (above 65 yrs) ISKCON GBC voluntary retire by Gaura Purnima 2021

Proposing senior and aged (above 65 yrs) ISKCON GBC voluntary retire by Gaura Purnima 2021
The Issue
ISKCON as a spiritual movement is very fortunate to have many senior and experienced leaders guiding the movement for many decades. Currently, many of the GBC members due to physical difficulties are unable to efficiently fulfill their commitment to Srila Prabhupada in their GBC services. Hence, it is requested that GBC members above the age of 65 voluntary retire and handover the governing to new generation devotees. In their respective status as the most senior devotees, the emeritus GBC members would continue to guide but not govern devotees, rather they would utilize Krsna-given time to fully absorb in their personal bhajana.
Srila Prabhupada said:
“As soon as Pariksit Maharaja their grandson became grown up immediately handed over charge of everything. This is Vedic civilisation not that up to the end of life, so long as one is not fired.”
>>> Ref. VedaBase => Room Conversation – September 13, 1972, Dallas
His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada had shown by his own example wherein he handed over the governing duty to young and active disciples and made them GBC members, and thereby concentrated on his writing and guiding services.
Gracefully handing over the duties to young generation managers will be beneficial for the whole movement, individually and collectively and will set a good example for generations to follow. The transition should happen smoothly respectfully and quickly enough for the new generation to pick it up, simultaneously leaving enough time for elders to withdraw.
The “fresh blood” infusion into our movement is expected to stimulate the ISKCON’s universal body and push it forward to fulfill the purpose of its existence namely to spread the holy name of the Lord, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Sign the petition and be the part of healthy and respectful change.
