Get the women at Wimbledon a proper trophy

Get the women at Wimbledon a proper trophy
The Issue
The Wimbledon Men's Singles trophy - with its magnificent, golden pineapple perched on top and its beautifully curved handles that have been held by so many famous names - is the ultimate achievement in the tennis world. The plate that is presented to the runner up in the men's final is still pretty impressive and it is a huge honour to hold both of these iconic trophies. It takes an unimaginable amount of skill, passion and hard work to get to the level where you can lift the Wimbledon trophy above your head; something I will never do. Not that I would ever get to the level of professional tennis players, but if I did, I still would not be allowed to lift that icon of tennis. Why? Because I am not a man.
Now I am not saying that the Venus Rosewater Dish is not spectacular (it is!) but it is still a plate. A plate. Like the plate that the men's runner up is presented with (although, yes, it is a lot less ornate than the women's singles award). It is almost implying that the top female players are only equal to the men's runner up.
This is not right.
With their incredible strength and power, it is only fair that after working just as hard as the men, the women are awarded with a proper trophy that is equal to the male competitors. And you can help by signing this petition. So please, help fight for a cup that the top women tennis players in the world, so rightly deserve.
