Birchwood Lakes Swim Team has been suspended from using the pool and facilities of Birchwood Lakes Community Association due to an incident that did not happen during any swim team practice, meet or event.  The community is punishing an entire team for the actions of a volunteer that occurred outside of the swim team.  Unfortunately, these things have happened before in other organizations, and they have all continued to exist and have grown and learned from it.  There is no reason why these kids cannot use their own facilities that their families pay for. 

We need to let the board of directors know that this is not what the members of the Birchwood Lakes Community Association want to see happen.  We need to keep a sense of community and pride.  These kids need to be involved in a community program that will help provide a place to learn so much more than swimming and competing.  The team gives back in so many ways to the bigger community and give these kids a sense of pride and the feeling of accomplishment.  We can't take this away from them.
