For the past two months, ASB has been blasting their music outside of the library with their giant speaker. What is their reasoning? Do they want to create a fun environment to celebrate school spirit? Whatever they believe they are achieving, it is at a great cost. Not only is this nuisance directly outside of the library, where people go to be in a quiet environment, it is at the center of several tables where groups of friends try to speak and eat lunch at. Before the speaker began to play music, these groups would have normal conversations at normal levels during the only break in a 7 hour school day. Now, these students are losing their voices and their hearing after they need to scream at the top of their lungs to even hear each other over the deafening music that plays every single day. Not only that, their music taste consists of derivative, loud, substance-less dribble. On the rare occasion that good music is played, it is randomly stopped before it can be finished. Even after constant conversations with the speaker operators, they decide to not take heed of our pleadings to lower the volume and decide to completely ignore us after nodding and trying to keep a smiling face. No action has been taken, therefore, we must take action to a higher level.
