Climate emergency not declared but some positive steps forward

Hello all!
An update for you from Monday night's Alice Springs Town Council meeting. A climate emergency was not declared at that meeting, with too few council members prepared to make the declaration. However we did see some movement in the right direction, with the council voting to recognise the "urgency" of acting and adapting to climate change. It also agreed to look into providing a transparent and accessible reporting portal on their existing Climate Action Plan and increasing resources.
You can read more about how the meeting unfolded here.
We welcome these incremental improvements, but we are still dedicated to adding our voice to the national and international call to recognise the climate emergency at every level of government. We will keep you posted as these conversations continue.
A huge thanks to everyone who attended and supported this within the room and from afar!
