The Meghezzi family would like to notify and bring to the attention of the public that their son Mouloud Hamza Meghezzi, has been taken by the Algerian Security from his residence the night of Monday, December 14th to an unknown location first, without providing any explanation.

He is currently battling cancer and must undergo daily medical treatment. His family fears that the conditions of detention will worsen his situation. They express their deepest concerns about the arbitrary and continuous detention without any valid evidence.

Mouloud Meghezzi has been unjustly charged for speaking the truth against his enemies in business. His basic right to freedom of speech was obstructed when hewas arrested for speaking to a journalist about the wrongdoings made by powerful people. He is also an American citizen who has been investing in his native country of Algeria for decades, and this is how he is thanked. This is his punishment for speaking the truth about those who hold power and have no limits. Are these people so scared of the truth? Are they so scared that they arrest a man who has dedicated his life to bettering his home country? 

Your awareness is needed today in the name of justice and human rights as we cannot remain silent. Those who are silent are compliant with the oppressors. Freedom of speech is a God-given right and is the heart of the Algerian people who declared their independence 58 years ago.

Therefore, we are in need of your support and help for his immediate release and safe return to his family, especially given his health situation.
