Thanks again to all of you who helped in the fight to save the Witness Tree. Although it is gone, your efforts were encouraging, and you have inspired a renewed effort to save more of Alexandria’s tree canopy.

To that end, I am asking now for you to take up a new battle- saving hundreds of trees in the Chinquapin nature area, near Taylor Run. Below is a link to a new petition that discusses the matter in more detail. Please sign and share. To further educate yourselves on the issue, and to learn of other ways to help, also consider following the Environmental Council of Alexandria’s Facebook page, and joining the Save Alexandria’s Trees group on Nextdoor. Links for both are also below. The city’s plans for this destruction aren’t as far along as those for TC Williams were, so we have a fighting chance. Keep spreading the word and learning more about how to help.
