The undersigned demand the release of Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova who are currently remanded in custody. They have been held under a suspicion that they were involved in a peaceful protest with a group known as 'Pussy Riot'. The women deny these charges. Regardless of whether or not the women are regarded as guilty the right to peaceful protest is a human right, and The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states "Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association". Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova are being held in violation of their human rights, and as such we demand their immediate release.
