Aleksandar’s Law: Fix Dead Man’s Curve Before Another Life Is Lost

The Issue

Five days ago, my beautiful 20-year-old nephew, Aleksandar Kosic, was taken from us far too soon on a deadly stretch of road in West Milford, NJ, the place locals fearfully call “Dead Man’s Curve.”

He had his whole life ahead of him. His smile, his kindness, his light, all gone in an instant because of a road that has claimed too many lives and seen too little action. This petition is not just in his memory, it is a call to protect others before another family is shattered like ours.

🚨 WHY THIS MATTERS:

No safety cameras

Cracked pavement and limited visibility

No street lighting or updated signage

Multiple past fatalities and accidents

A chilling local nickname  and a tragic history to back it up.Clinton Road’s “Dead Man’s Curve” is more than just dangerous,  it’s deadly. Despite known risks and past crashes, no meaningful safety infrastructure has been implemented. How many more young people must be lost before action is taken?

🕊️ OUR MISSION — "ALEKSANDAR’S LAW"

We are asking for a comprehensive safety overhaul of Dead Man’s Curve, starting immediately, in honor of Aleksandar Kosic and every life lost or endangered there. This includes:

📌 Safety Measures Requested:

1. Installation of speed-activated warning signs before the curve

2. Rumble strips and reflective chevrons to alert inattentive drivers

3. High-definition safety cameras to deter speeding and reckless driving

4. Stronger guardrails and clear pavement markings

5. Street lighting to improve nighttime visibility

6. Widening and resurfacing of the road for traction and maneuverability

7. Quarterly safety audits and budgeted maintenance.

💬 FROM AUNT TO ADVOCATE:

This isn’t just a petition. It’s my vow and I hope yours too that Aleksandar’s life will not be remembered for how he died, but for what his story changed.

I will fight until the very end to make sure that no other mother, father, aunt, uncle, cousin, or friend has to feel what we’re feeling. The kind of pain that cracks open your chest and never fully goes away.

The grief is unimaginable, but if I can help prevent one more family from enduring this heartbreak, then Aleksandar’s life will continue to protect others. Through this, Aleks can help save another family. That’s what gives me strength to keep going.

✍️ WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Sign this petition, your voice adds pressure for action.

2. Share Aleksandar’s story on social media, in schools, across the state.

3. Call on local officials, I will provide templates to contact West Milford Township & NJDOT.

4. Join the movement — as we turn this into long-term reform: "Aleksandar’s Law."

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ALEKSANDAR KOSIC (2004–2025):

Son,grandson,brother, nephew, friend, light.

Gone too soon, never forgotten.

Let his name stand for safety, accountability, and action.
