Dear Supporter,
At first glance, Aldi’s new “One Health Certified” (OHC) label looks promising. Appearing on Aldi's store-brand chicken since early 2020, the OHC label shows five checkboxes including “Animal Welfare,” “Environmental Impact” and “Antibiotic Restrictions.” But peel back the sticker and you find out that OHC is the brainchild of Mountaire Farms: the nation’s sixth largest chicken factory farmer and an Aldi chicken supplier. Mountaire created OHC to greenwash, humanewash, and healthwash its grim record of environmental violations, workers’ rights issues, and animal cruelty.
This label has been condemned by a national coalition of environmental, public health, and animal advocacy organizations, including Consumer Reports, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center at the George Washington University. Yet Aldi continues to use the label ... and continues to ignore our requests to make real change in its supply chain like requiring its pork suppliers to end their use of gestation crates.
Please urge ALDI to ditch the humanewashing OHC label today — and commit to making REAL animal welfare changes in its pork supply chain. Sign Farm Forward's new petition asking Aldi to stop using this meaningless label
Thank you for your continued support.
