“In the end, it’s not what we think should be in the store;  it’s what customers think should be in the store.”  Aldi, Vice President of Corporate Buying

Dear Supporter,

More than 350,000 consumers have urged Aldi to make it a requirement that its pork suppliers eliminate the use of gestation crates. Many of us are writing and calling Aldi to voice our concern about a practice we find objectionable. Yet, Aldi still won't create a public timeline to commit to going 100% crate free.

You can help by taking a quick action to let Aldi know how you feel about gestation crates: Please send Aldi an email. Or, create a post or send a message via Facebook to let them know you want crate free pork.

Write a polite message of your own message or use the text below:

“Dear Aldi, As a shopper who deeply cares about animal welfare, I am writing to get an update on your plans to announce a public timeline to eliminate gestation crates from your pork supply chain. Your current policy states that you “EXPECT... suppliers to pursue the elimination of crates for pregnant sows in favor of group housing”. That's nice, but an expectation falls far short of a REQUIREMENT and a COMMITMENT to a timeline. Aldi, you claim to pay attention to what customers want to see in your stores: I want to see crate free pork!"

Let's make 2021 the year Aldi finally takes a stand against this cruel practice.

For the animals,

Crate Free Illinois
