Dear Supporter,
Another year has gone by and Aldi has still not made a commitment to end the use of gestation crates by its suppliers. Gestation crates remain one of the worst forms of entrenched animal cruelty in industrialized food operations, yet Aldi continues to allow them in its supply chain.
Phone calls are one of the best ways to express our concerns and persuade retailers to do better for the animals they profit from. Will you call Aldi today, and tell them you want to buy crate free pork at their stores?
Here's how:
- Call Aldi’s Customer Service Line at (800) 325-7894 (option #4), Mon-Fri 9 am - 5pm EST
- Identify yourself and either follow this script or have a polite conversation of your own: "I believe that grocery chains have a responsibility to ensure the humane treatment of the animals they profit from. When will Aldi finally take a real stand and require your suppliers to end the use of gestation crates within a specific timeframe? I want to support businesses that take a strong stand against the extreme confinement of animals raised for food."
- Even though you will be told that the appropriate department will be informed, please get a case number and ask if there is a time you can follow-up with them!
Thank you for your continued support during this crazy year. Let's hope that in 2021 Aldi will finally commit to the more humane treatment of mother pigs in its supply chain.
For the animals,
Crate Free Illinois
