For many years residents of the Oakland community, and the block of 40th and Ellis Avenue specifically, have requested that a speed bump be installed to address the consistent, dangerous speeding that occurs on our street. Too many of us have had too many close encounters with speeding cars, endangering children, pets, elders and property.  While we understand there is a proposal to reverse the street traffic flow, we believe the installment of speed bumps would be the least intrusive and most effective strategy to address this problem immediately. We have waited too long and it is time to show our collective determination as voters and neighbors to keep our community safe from the danger of speeding cars.
