Greetings, neighbors.
Well, we made great progress this week. Not only did our plight get covered in DNAinfo.com, it was covered by Univision as the leading story in their 10PM news.
In the DNA story, LUCHA states in one breath that they have the "overwhelming support of [the] community." Later that night during the Univision interview, the reporter asked a LUCHA Executive if they had asked the neighbors about the antenna installation. LUCHA replied in Spanish "We didn't ask them, and we don't need to."
So what does overwhelming community support mean? If community means the neighbors who actually reside in the immediate area, there is absolutely no support whatsoever. Zero. Nil. Nada. Not a single person supports it.
250 people who live within 1000 feet of the proposed installation site have gladly signed a petition opposing it. Less than 10 people or 2.6% didn't sign it.
LUCHA also called parts of our petition "Trump-like." I don't know about you but acting with a total lack of respect and consideration for your neighbor's most valuable assets, their health and hearth, while selling yourself out to a corporation sounds more like an orange-skinned creature than our grassroots petition.
I'll be presenting the petition to the Alderman within the next few days, requesting his support.
I thank each of you who have signed this online petition, many of whom have also signed the paper petition. If you live within 1000 feet or so (2-3 blocks away) please contact me ASAP and get your name on the paper petition.
Thank you, Kurt Gippert
