Very few people know that there are only 2 provinces in Canada where horse slaughter is taking place. Quebec and ALBERTA, horse country, the Western way of life has always been depicted as a horse and cowboy, bonded, buds right? It’s all bull, it’s all an illusion they want the world to believe. Alberta slaughters horses or rather Bouvry Slaughter house in Fort Macleod slaughters horses. What a hypocritical province, the horse auctions where the breeders of thoroughbreds, Quarter horses and Percherons, Clyde’s and everything in between bring these horses to the auctions where kill buyers purchase them, many of them will be flown in crates that are way too small and they will be live shipped to Japan where they will be slaughtered with less than humane means. When these once loved horses are of no more use or they’re no longer making money for their owner, they’re sold at auctions where most are bought by the kill buyers working for Bouvry. So why would a province like Alberta allow such brutality, pain and suffering to a creature that has taken the settlers across the West, has worked tirelessly with their “cowboy” and have been ridden for the pure joy of riding. These beautiful animals are often still wearing halters, coming from a loving home, not knowing the horrific reality that awaits them. 2 out of every 3 horses in Alberta will end up on the slaughterhouse floor, 2 OUT OF 3….it’s unbelievable, they will be strung up by one back leg, having their throat cut, feeling the terror, flailing their limbs until they move no more. For what, so some wealthy Japanese and Europeans can eat our horses??? People say what’s the difference between a cow, pig or horse, for me there isn’t any difference HOWEVER cows and pigs are not and do not have the connection with an owner that a horse does, this make the slaughter of these magnificent creatures all the more heartbreaking. Please, please share this to everyone you know and BOYCOTT ALBERTA AND THE CALGARY STAMPEDE!!! Perhaps if we hurt the province of Alberta where it hurts the most, loss of revenue maybe then they’ll put an end to this horrific killing of the most majestic, gentle creatures.
