Your Help is Needed!!

Hi everyone! After a brief few weeks with almost no news about mining and our Rocky Mountains, it has come to our attention that the provincial government has still continued to allow exploratory work to begin in the southwest regions of our province, especially around the proposed (and toxic) Grassy Mountain Open Pit Mine.

What this means is that around 200km of roads have been built into Albertan wilderness, with hundreds of new drill sites also being added. These roads are already suspected of surpassing legal thresholds, and are very damaging to the environment (see source list at end).

We must stop this exploratory work from continuing, as this will be our best chance to stop the open pit mine from ever being built. Without knowing the geology of the land, the destructive foreign companies cannot ever build a mine.

As such, we have entered into an informal partnership with CPAWS. They will be providing an email generator that calls for the END of any further exploratory on our beautiful Rocky Mountains. You might recognize them from their campaign to protect our provincial parks. The link to the email generator is here: https://action.cpaws.org/page/77749/action/2

To further enhance your impact, you could also copy the email you sent to the provincial government using the CPAWS generator and send it to the federal government. Since they have the power to reject the project, convincing them to this would also be a huge boost. The relevant federal government emails can be found here:

Justin Trudeau: justin.trudeau@parl.gc.ca

Jonathan Wilkinson:  Jonathan.Wilkinson@parl.gc.ca

Your MP: Depends on what area you live in.

Thank you all for helping us fight for our Rocky Mountains. The more pressure we put, the more likely the UCP will cancel these projects. We must continue to show them that Albertans greatly value our wildlife, natural areas, and especially our sources of drinking water.

Until next time,

Concerned Citizens of Alberta's Administrator
