The shooting of dogs should be a felony

The Issue

On Monday night around 5pm both of my dogs got out of the back gate. We waited to see if they would come back and when they didn’t my brother made flyers and put them up all over Madison, my mom posted on Facebook, my friends and I put it all over every social media platform. You had to be living under a rock to have not seen or at least heard something about these dogs. Tuesday I went to several shelters and emailed them flyers to put up and hoped someone would know something. Wendsay morning came around and sally, one of the dogs, had come home around 6:15am. Sally’s returning gave us hope and my brother decided he wanted to go look for Baylee (his puppy). We drove to the spot they were last reported being seen and began to look. My mom called me and told me that someone had reported finding Baylee dead. Sadly this was true. My brothers 6mo skittish sweet puppy’s life was ended with two bullets, one to the heart through the back of her shoulder and one though her butt. My family is heartbroken, friends, neighbors who loved Baylee are heartbroken. Baylee was ONE street over from my brothers girlfriends house where they spent most of their time. Baylee was just trying to go home. Dogs are not just animals. They’re loyal and intelligent and we form bonds with them like we do our siblings or our kids. The reason murder is illegal is because of the destruction it does to the victims loved ones partially and for  taking someone’s life before it was meant to be taken away. When you shoot a dog you take someone’s pet, you can no longer make memories with that pet, you poured time energy money love and copashion into something (like you do your family)and then someone comes and just takes it right out from under you. You hurt the family that pet belongs to. Now I know there is a difference between intentional and accidentally. My brothers puppy was shot intentionally. Please help me change the standards society has set for animals, they can’t speak up for themselves so speak for them. We’re human let’s be humane. #DogsAreNeverInSeason
