Section 6 of the AHSAA bylaws prohibits athletes from training or attending events with a club team during high school season.  Any athlete who does so is ineligible to compete for their school team.  

This rule is especially damaging to soccer players in Alabama because the primary recruiting season for college soccer is in the spring during their offseason, which is when Alabama holds its school soccer season.  

Only 10.1% of the NCAA D1 and D2 soccer female roster spots in Alabama are filled by in state athletes.  In Georgia, who has the same spring season, 57% of the female roster spots are filled by in state athletes.  They do not restrict club participation.  

We are only asking the AHSAA to allow the players to participate in club training or events with permission of their high school coach and principal like the other states are already doing. This will allow for exposure to college coaches during the spring. So far they will not even return our emails.
