The Akron School Board voted against the restart of athletics despite support from the State of Ohio Governor and Summit County Health Commissioner to resume. The school Athletic Commissioner has laid out a very conservative plan that protects our children from greater exposure but not all exposure and that is the boards concern. The problem is that the board should not be able to dictate how the parents in their communities raise their children. We are all aware of the risks of Covid-19 and as parents it is our right to decide if we feel comfortable with our child playing a sport. As parents it is also are right to believe the developmental risk of not allowing our children to partake in sports is far greater than the risk of contracting the virus. This important decision should not lie solely with the school board,

We are asking you to sign this petition to show your support for the restart of athletics across all sports. As parents and members of this community we must stand up and speak out for our children. We can't allow the actions a few determine the future of our community.
