Here's what I just sent; hope it will help you craft your own email to the AKC... All, Regarding the request for The Modification of Off-Lead Group Exercises in all AKC Obedience Classes. I know we are getting close to the time when decisions will be made and the future of obedience will be in your hands. I kindly request that you take the recommendations of the AKC appointed Obedience Advisory Committee and go forth with their plan to change the Novice and Open classes. Change is never easy but this change will bring people back to the sport that we are so passionate about in a time of declining entries (many due to this very issue). I realize there has been a lot of passion on both sides of this issue but the 3000 persons who signed the petition were adamant about removing the stays and replacing them with something that would not “dumb down” the sport. I believe the Committee succeeded in that task. Again, I hope you will decide in the favor of those folks who want to keep their dogs, safe and keep the liability for all to a minimum.
