We the undersigned would like to ask Qatar Airlines to kindly consider the suffering of greyhounds transported to China for commercial purposes. Greyhounds are purchased by owners who race dogs at the Canidrome where they suffer the most inhumane death. On the 12th May 2016, 24 greyhounds were transported to Heathrow airport by a greyhound trainer 'Robert Green', and were booked on a flight to Hong Kong via Qatar airlines, after they had been sold to a Chinese owner to race at the Canidrome greyhound stadium. These dogs were transported from Co Tipperary in Ireland and had travelled around 12 hours to reach the airport, where they would have had to endure further travel to reach China. There has been extensive media coverage on this case in both Europe and China and also social media has brought it to the attention of people globally. NO DOG SURVIVES THE CANIDROME!! A dog must be placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd, within the first 3 to 5 races, or will be inhumanely killed by use of a lethal injection. There is no guarantee that some of these dogs may not be sent to the meat trade, where they would suffer a very slow and painful death We are aware that further dogs will be sent to the Canidrome, therefore we are urging Qatar to kindly end all connections with this cruel trade and place an embargo on their flights to prevent transport of dogs to China. Qatar - Please prevent these dogs from suffering a gruesome death and allow your customers to be comfortable in the knowledge that they are travelling with a company that care and value good ethics.
