Home Secretary, Theresa May has looked at our campaign and “is very sympathetic” and “has passed it to officials to look at in detail”. We have been informed that she will come back to us with thoughts when she has received advice. John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive Officer of Heathrow Airport has said “Our policy is already to screen in situ via alternative non-evasive means if it is unsafe to remove an insulin pump. We will remind our colleagues of that policy through our security training team. As requested, we will also raise this with Airports Council International.” In other news, I have a meeting with the Security Regulation Manager at Gatwick on Friday morning and will keep you up-to-date on developments. So far our campaign has also received support and positive responses from: Andrew Haines, Chief Executive of the Civil Aviation Authority “We have recognised from the responses on your petition page, that on some occasions these alternative processes have not in practice been offered to passengers and so we will write again to all UK airports, reminding them of the position.” “We have reviewed the information on our website in the light of your campaign and we will update it in the next few days, to make sure that all of this is entirely clear to passengers.” Read in full http://ufofreight.com/uploads/caa-humphrey-redacted_1467202153.pdf Mr Philip Rutnam, Permanent Secretary for the Department for Transport “I will also ask the team here in the Department to discuss the issues you raise with Airports Council International, whose global reach can enable greater clarity and consistency around the World.” Read in full http://ufofreight.com/uploads/dft_1467229850.pdf Diabetes.co.uk published this article last week: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2016/jun/airport-security-to-reduce-travel-stress-regarding-insulin-pumps-92751206.html Thank you for your time.
