More support from the media, from the people but Air India continues to hide behind rules. Can they be so insensitive and not see the truth? Its not that I traveled with a broken Sitar to New York to perform there so that I can blame Air India for it. My Sitar was surely damaged and broken when it was in their charge and they need to be accountable and accept responsibility. Suggestions like 'buy an extra seat' is not good enough. Why should artists have to buy an extra seat for their instruments? Why cant the airlines sensitise and train their staff to be more respectful and handle precious musical instruments with care? Classical musicians are not rock stars who can always buy extra seats for their instruments. Very very few Indian artists do it. Moreover most airline staff themselves do not know the rules about buying an extra seat for musical instruments and harass the artists about that too. The only way out--make airlines accountable when they break the precious musical instruments. They cannot get away with murder!!
