The people of Pithoragarh suffer a long and arduous journey to Delhi(National Capital) and Dehradun (State Capital) for various purposes. It takes almost 16 to 20 hours by public transport and the private transport is very expensive. The road condition is not comfortable and during rains they get blocked. One trip costs somewhere around 3000/- to 4000/- for single trip. 

There is a good and operational air strip in the heart of the city which can be utilized for the operation of aircrafts. Earlier this service was started but due to technical glitches it was discontinued. Also the operation was done for a 20 seater airplane which was insufficient for the people. It used to be overbooked and it was next to impossible to get a booking even one month before the travel date.

We urge the state leadership and aviation ministry to look at our woes and help us in securing a safe and quick mode of transport in this hilly district.
