Dear Recipients, 

We are grade 7 students in AKAM (Aga Khan Academy Mombasa). Both of us are participating in Service-learning. It is to help us to assist the community around us. We decided to choose to help the community have a safer and cleaner environment. 

To begin with, as we researched in the past 10 years the climate over the world has changed a lot. This may cause really big and serious problems. There are many reasons which are leading to that problem. Factories are known to be the leading contributors to these problems, they produce waste that pollutes water and air. Some air pollutants cause the climate to warm.

The recent increase in greenhouse gas pollution is trapping excess heat and causing the climate to warm. Air pollution includes greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases cause the climate to warm by trapping heat from the Sun in the Earth's atmosphere. Right now, the world's oceans absorb 25% to 50% of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. But the ocean isn't able to absorb carbon dioxide as fast as we are polluting, which has led to both global warming and ocean acidification. On the other hand, it does increase the economy, resources, jobs, etc,  But it can greatly affect the living conditions of the people around and not only. Factories hold an important part in the stability of our nation, but there could be ways to dispose of waste and gasses more responsibly. 

In conclusion, we are hoping to collaborate with all of you to provide better and cleaner solutions for the benefit of the environment, The Kenyan community, and Kenya itself as a whole.
