AION 2 Region Lock
The Issue
Dear NCSoft Management and the AION 2 Development Team.
Lift the Region Lock on AION 2 for Slovakia and Impacted EU Countries.
We, the dedicated MMORPG community and loyal fans of the AION franchise, are writing to formally request the removal of the region lock imposed on Slovakia (and other affected European regions) for the upcoming global release of AION 2.
Currently, players from Slovakia are restricted from accessing the game via Steam and official platforms. While we understand that certain European markets (such as Belgium and the Netherlands) face strict local regulations regarding in-game monetization and loot boxes, Slovakia does not have any such legal restrictions. Slovakia is a fully integrated member of the European Union with a free, open digital market, and there is no legislative barrier preventing the operation of AION 2 in our country.
Limiting access to our region unnecessarily divides the European player base and alienates thousands of passionate fans who have supported NCSoft titles for over a decade. Many of us have spent years exploring Atreia in the original AION and AION Classic, and we were eagerly anticipating the official launch of AION 2 on October 5, 2026.
By keeping this region lock in place, NCSoft is missing out on a highly active, dedicated, and revenue-generating market in Central Europe. Furthermore, forced workarounds like VPNs or changing account regions only degrade the player experience and breach standard terms of service—something we want to avoid.
We respectfully urge NCSoft to:
Review the legal and regional status of Slovakia and lift the automated region lock.
Allow Slovak players to officially download, purchase, and play AION 2 via Steam and the PURPLE launcher.
Provide clarity to the Central and Eastern European communities regarding server accessibility.
