When people post letters in the "Local Mail" slot at their local Post Office, they rightfully expect it to be dealt with locally and delivered without delay. The current directive to staff to send all non priority mail including local letters to the metropolitan mail sorting centre is outrageous.  Moreover, it just flies in the face of Common Sense!

The waste of energy in transporting thousands of tonnes of mail over hundreds of kilometres needlessly is also a monstrous act of reckless corporate stupidity and shows a lack of moral responsibility.

The new slow regular service should not mean that mail addressed locally should take a week to arrive. Australia Post's response to a downturn in profits has been to reduce service and increase the cost to its customers, the opposite of how a forward thinking corporation should act.
