Mary Catherine Brown Wilson started this petition to Dayton, Texas Dayton, Texas community

The city of Dayton has expanded its city limits over the years to take in so many homes that have livestock, chickens, and horses. Now, the city wants to pass an ordinance that will NOT allow landowners to have them within the city limits. This will include young people that want to raise 4H and FFA projects. Also, families that want to teach their children where their breakfast eggs come from by raising chickens in their backyard.

Many of us were born in the Dayton Memorial Hospital by Dr. Richter or Dr. Wilson, we were raised and continue to live in Dayton. Some have moved in because they wanted to live in a rural farming community. Our rural hometown is definitely growing. We can grow without losing our traditions and rural hometown atmosphere but our city leaders have to value and support our agriculture in the community if we want to keep our hometown rural atmosphere. If we have problems with someone overgrazing their property or their chickens are roaming into the neighbors' flower bed, fix that issue, but do not block the ones that are caring for their animals properly.

I am asking Dayton City Council to dissolve their proposal to ban livestock, poultry and chickens being raised in the now very broad and expansive city limits of Dayton.

Below is the link to the proposal item.
