End quarantine for pet animals from nominated countries who pose no threat to Australian bio security. Pet animals are needlessly held in quarantine for 10 days which is merely a revenue raising exercise for the Australian government. Current veterinary research in developed countries have shown 10 day quarantine is at best ineffective. The Australian Government should adopt a Pet Passport Scheme similar to Europe and the USA where micro chipped, correctly vet treated, blood tested and vet certified animals to current standards can enter without the need for quarantine. Australian quarantine is a needlessly cruel and dirty environment with no health/hygiene standards and no cross contamination protocols.
