After numerous attempts in trying to contact the Mayor of Tagaytay in the Philippines regarding the Inhumane upkeep of all the animals at the Residence Inn Zoo; the concerned public has yet to receive a response. Animals being kept in a zoo environment should have high standards and follow the Five Freedom Rule. (As of follows ) 1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst 2. Freedom from Discomfort 3. Freedom from Pain, Injury and Disease 4. Freedom to Behave Normally 5. Freedom Pain and Distress. RESIDENCE INN ZOO in Tagaytay City DO NOT provide any of these to their animals!! Their lions and tigers are kept in literally dog sized cages. Fitting about 2-3 Tigers in these cramp spaces! Their White Lion is kept in another dog sized cage in the middle of the zoo without water all day! In the heat of the Philippine sun; this must be torture for him!! The Tigers in their cages are not provided with water all day either! They get sprayed with a water hose once a day! All the animals are not provided with any form of enrichment to keep mentally and physically stimulated. The Lions and Tigers are fed bread!!! They keep Lion and Tiger cubs chained in the reception for public entertainment all day separating them from their mothers at such an young age!! The whole zoo is dirty, smelly and run down. Their staff members are not formally trained at any type of animal education! They have no knowledge on how to look after these animals! All animals are malnourished and underweight. The other wild animals such as the camels, Bulls, goats, rabbits, different type of wild birds are also kept outdoors in run down cages with no shelter, water or food!! Their birds such Eagles are kept in a small cages!! Most of the animals are ridden with open wounds which have been severely infected. But yet no medical actions has been taken to cure the animals and have been left their to suffer in pain. These are just a few reasons why Residence Inn Zoo is appalling! It is not a safe and humane environment to keep any animal! Why should they carry on treating these animals in traumatic ways. All the animals at this zoo are beautiful and magnificent! They should be able to live as they would in the wild. Having right members of staff with the full knowledge of the care and welfare of these wild animals!
