Aggies Against Coral Reef Destruction

Aggies Against Coral Reef Destruction
The Issue
Howdy!
Coral reefs are home to many sea life that some serve as seafood. However, coral reefs are harmed or bleached by temperature increases due to human activities such as damaging fishing techniques, pollution through runoff or water pollutants, and increased greenhouse gas products. These can impact the temperature of the ocean water, which might cause coral bleaching along with the amount of plankton that corals feed on, which might cause red tide if corals are dead as plankton begins to bloom, or by leaking fuels and anti-fouling paints and coatings, and other chemicals that enter the water, which kills or poison the coral and the seafood we feed on.
We are asking the question: how can we help TAMU students to pay more attention to coral reef problems?
This petition is for a personal commitment to minimize or completely stop any practices that damage coral reefs. In addition, we've built a website that helps to educate fellow Aggies on coral reef conservation efforts, especially for our sister campus in Corpus Christi!
