No New Land Leases for Oil or Coal. Forever.

The Issue

This petition proposes to end any and all future federal land leasing for oil, coal and gas exploration, development and/or production in the United States of America, onshore and offshore. We do this by appealing directly to the administrators responsible for the management of federal land.

The U.S. Department of the Interior has jurisdiction over onshore leasing, exploration, development, and production of oil, coal and gas on federal lands. Under the Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Land Management approves and supervises most oil and gas operations.

But they are not the only federal agencies with onshore oil, coal and gas leasing authority. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the General Services Administration (GSA) also have such authority. USPS can lease postal service lands for oil, coal and gas development. GSA can lease lands that have been acquired by a federal agency and later declared "excess" to the acquiring agency's needs.

Sign this petition to protect our remaining American land, provide these agencies and their leaders with clear recommendations, and cap all future leases, protecting American soil and water from companies more interested in our natural resources than our health, future or well-being.

Save your country from exploitation and gift it to your grandchildren.
