Joe Ashton was the coordinator at Crewe’s ‘Men in Sheds’ at the very start when it was one of the first few to be set up in the UK, in January 2010, by Age UK Cheshire based on a successful Australian project. 

Joe has worked incredibly hard for the last 10 years and gone above and beyond his role to secure funding for the shed and support the men for whom the Shed has been a lifeline. This includes my father John Naden who sadly died in the peak of the Covid pandemic in April of this year, who joined the Shed at the start, and both Joe and the Shed guys kept my dad going through two life threatening health events, due to his determination in intensive care to go back to his Shed.  

Joe Ashton has just been told to leave his post at Men in Sheds in Crewe by Age UK after 10 long years of building it up and building relationships up with the guys to be replaced by another person ?
