Affordable Housing for Disabled Individuals and SSI Recipients - No Discrimination Against Pet Owners
The Issue
- I'm a 49 single disabled female with 2 registered service pets Father 8 and his Daughter 6 that are my family and will always be considered family they are all I hav in this world n they keep me goin forward in life and always by my side they are more behaved than most humans they protect me and they love me unconditionally. We hav been homeless for most of their lives n I've been homeless 10 yrs in San Diego California since 2010 and had fought for disability benifits 7 of those yrs before I was granted fully disabled so I'm not able to work i signed up for section 8 in 2010 but was removed from the list because I didn't keep it up to date n now I've been back on the waiten list for section 8, housing choice voucher, and other housing programs as a priority of top of the list for 5 yrs this round and hav a case worker thru Path OutReach, Path Community, Enhanced Health Care, A Social Worker for Housing Solutions, A ESA Letter from my doctor Staten that my service pets are part of my disability n recommends that we not be separated and should stay with me at all times . I had put myself n my furry family into a hotel room for 3 yrs with my unemployment during the covd pandemic but money ran out n my SSI Disability income don't even come close to covering the rent prices n now we're homeless once agian every day I would get up 8 in mornin til 5 in evening I would call or email places for rent n I did it religiously every day the hole 3 yrs we were in the hotel and searched for any new programs we would be eligible for n just bout all places wanted a copy of your previous credit report wich would cost $30 every time and a $25. - $50 application fee and a back ground check fee for just bout every place for rent Then they would want a deposit, first n last month the rent up front and a credit score of at least 620 and the places I did find I could afford w my income wanted 2-3 more income of the rent amount or wanted me to giv up one of my pets or both wich I've always told every one and any one that's not an opition my furry family is just that my family n my world I've been asked several times by rehousing programs, case workers if I had sum one that could take care of my family so I could hav a place to lay my head or if I've considered putting them in the pound during the night time to hav a place to lay my head or put i them n dog care camp to just hav a place to lay my head we hav been discrimated against, turned away,thrown in jail, looked down on , just cuz we can't afford the rent prices I didn't choose this life n I'm not asking for anything free n the government made me homeless cuz I cant afford the rent prices I didn't then they make it almost impossible to get out of Homelessness all the high prices n the qualifications u hav to be approved of to be able to afford a place over your head n your furry family they are not dogs, cats , or animals they are my family Wether they are 4 legged or 2 and I or my furry family , or any one like myself should have to pay the consequences for the governments rules n ridiculous rent prices n the low monthly payments recieved for SSI n Disability when they know its not enuff to cover the rent prices let a known to survive when it's just you
