This petition seeks to garner support for a change in the Danville Public Schools Graduation date and time for Galileo Magnet. We the concerned parents, travelling family members, and all supporters of the class of 2026. Respectfully request that the graduation date be reconsidered/changed to a more suitable and accessible day and time. Graduation is one of the most meaningful milestones in a student’s life. It is a moment families plan for, travel for, and cherish for years to come. The current dates present significant challenges for many parents and supporters: including conflicts with works schedules, limited travel availability, financial strain from last minute arrangements, and the difficulty of gathering loved ones who want to be present for this once-in-a-lifetime moment. By adjusting the graduation date and time to a more reasonable and family-friendly day, the school would be honoring the importance of community involvement, reducing stress on families, and ensuring that every graduate will receive the recognition they have worked so hard to achieve. We are not asking for anything complicated only a fair opportunity for families to be present. 

For these reasons we are asking Danville to come together and sign this petition.

Our proposition is to change the date of Galileo Magnet Highschool's graduation to Saturday May, 23, 2026 at 9:00 am, from the former Thursday May 21, 2026 at 6:00 pm. We feel that this change makes sense because it will allow graduates of Galileo which has a lesser student body to end graduation quickly and effectively. As mentioned above, adjusting the graduation date and time to these proposed changes will allow this important day to be more accessible and less strenuous for all involved.
