The Issue

As parents of children in District 75, we are all too familiar with the daily challenges of securing reliable and quality transportation for our children with special needs. Your experiences highlight the urgency of this issue: the profound impact on students and families, the disruptions to consistency, the long and exhausting commutes, critical safety concerns, and the emotional strain on our households.

For many of our children, routine is essential. Transportation delays and disruptions can trigger heightened anxiety and behavioral challenges. Some students face excessively long commutes, resulting in fatigue, reduced classroom engagement, and potential health risks.

Even more alarming are reports of buses operating without proper supervision, insufficient safety measures, and inadequately trained staff—an unacceptable failure in a system meant to support our most vulnerable children.

We urge you, our fellow parents, to stand with us in calling for change. Together, we can petition the responsible institutions to overhaul the transportation system, prioritize safety and reliability, and ensure all staff interacting with our children are properly trained.

Our goal is a transportation system that meets the unique needs of every District 75 student—a system that upholds their dignity, safety, and well-being. Let’s take action together. Sign the petition today, and help us secure the change our children deserve.
