My name is Ila.  I am fourteen years old and physically disabled.  I’m chronically ill with multiple diagnoses that make my life, especially school, very hard.  I struggle to get to and stay at school due to the constant pain and severe discomfort.  I originally attended an online charter school, but it didn’t meet my personal social and educational needs.  I want to attend the same schools as my friends, but my weeks are crowded with horrible flare-ups and doctor’s appointments, so I’m often absent, which impacts my grades significantly.  Beaverton does not allow students with a 504 or IEP to have personal part-time schedules, which makes school much harder for me and many of my disabled friends.
